Pathophysiology
Histopathology:
- Acute eczema: Spongiosis (intraepidermal intercellular oedema)
- Chronic eczema: Acanthosis (thickening of stratum spinosum)
Clinical features
Morphological patterns:
- Acute phase: Erythema, oedema, vesicles, oozing, crusting
- Subacute phase: Erythema, scaling
- Chronic phase: Lichenification
- Thickening
- Hyperpigmentation
- Exaggerated skin markings
Management
Topical formuations:
- Acute eczema:
