Acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS)

Acute disorder characterized by bilateral lung infiltrates and severe progressive hypoxemia in the absence of any evidence of cardiogenic pulmonary edema within 7 days of an inciting event.

Pulmonary edema

Abnormal accumulation of extravascular fluid in the lung parenchyma.

Diffuse axonal injury (DAI)

Widespread axonal damage in the aftermath of acute/repetitive traumatic brain injury (TBI), leading to deficits in cerebral connectivity that may or may not recover over time.

Hyperglycemic crisis is a metabolic emergency associated with uncontrolled diabetes mellitus that may result in significant morbidity or death.
